I really hate the fact that the OW plotline exists because otherwise the book is perfect. She doesn’t forgive him easily but nor does she make him really grovel. The heroine does break up with the hero and he essentially blackmails her into returning, as well as punishing the OW, but I wish these scenes were more protracted. Paired with the above, though, I actually stopped reading and DNFed the book.īut I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I went back. This is the product of a babysitter who raped him when he was younger though, so I could have worked through it if this had been the only OW incident. They don’t have sex, but they certainly hook up, and it’s disgusting.Ģ. At some point before the hero and heroine have sex for the first time, he goes to an OW’s house and passes out in a bed with her. But then we discover two things that absolutely are 1-star things for me:ġ. There’s an impressively well-written character arc on the heroine’s part that allows her to start falling for the hero (I see it as kind of a mutual Stockholm Syndrome, where they become both basically obsessed with each other). In fact, things are fine for at least half the book. I actually think it’s really well-written, sexual-harassment type bullying is infinitely preferable to the physical-harm type other books have, and in general I thought the book gets off on the right foot.

Call me twisted, but that’s one of my favourite parts of the book. This is, at least initially, a dark bully romance that starts out with the hero – 18-year-old Carter Mahoney – pretty much forcing the heroine Zoey Ellisto blow him in a classroom. Let me try and break this down for you all. I find this book almost impossible to rate.
